Manual Machinist, Grinding

SUMMARY: 

The successful candidate will be required to produce one-off high precision machined parts. Candidates without grinding experience but who have transferable skills will be considered.

DUTIES:

• To machine high precision components from engineering drawings by operating various manual grinding machines.

• Be responsible for inspecting own work using standard engineering measuring equipment.

• Work under own initiative to meet production targets.

• Be responsible for keeping high health and safety, and housekeeping standards.

• Keep stock control of own consumable tooling.

• Take part in daily team meetings.

• Assist other team members as and when required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum level of GCSE or O Level maths.

• Be able to utilize tools for optimum productivity.

• Must be able to read standard engineering drawings.

• Must be skilled in the use of standard engineering measuring tools to an accuracy of 0.005mm, using e.g.  External micrometers, Bore micrometers, Depth micrometers, Dial indicators.

• A high level of mechanical aptitude.

GENERAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

• Strong mechanical aptitude

• Excellent communication skills.
