Trainee CNC/Manual Machinist

SUMMARY: 

The successful candidate will be trained to produce one-off high precision machined parts using a CNC and manual turning centers. This position is suitable for persons without prior machine tool experience. Training will be given. This is a full-time position: Monday-Friday totaling 39 hours, with possible overtime when skills allow.

DUTIES:

  • To machine high precision components from engineering drawings by programming and operating a CNC turning center.

  • Be responsible for inspecting own work using standard engineering measuring equipment.

  • Work under own initiative to meet production targets.

  • Be responsible for keeping high health and safety, and housekeeping standards.

  • Keep stock control of own consumable tooling.

  • Take part in daily team meetings.

  • Assist other team members as and when required.

GENERAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Basic computer skills; Excel, Word.

  • Good basic maths skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged standing

  • Regularly lift and move up to 25kg.
